The text - and Midrashim - about Sodom have a lot to teach us.

  1. I enjoyed your wonderful Torah study on the ways of Sodom. I would, however, disagree with the caption commenting on the “nuttiness” of the Occupy Wall Street youth. Colbert can make anyone look nutty – that’s what he does. But their message is serious, and one that is supported by the majority of Americans of all ages -- that over the past 30 years the large corporations and richest 1 percent of Americans have been using their political and economic power to take more and more away from the other 99 percent. The Republicans in Congress, who represent this powerful, have promised to cut health care and social security payments for the needy rather than raise taxes by even a penny on the wealthy. It’s an attitude of “What’s mine is mine” as arrogant as ever existed among the Sodomites.
